About The Position

This is a remote role with an initial 2-month onsite training period in the Middletown office. The Transportation Scheduler will be responsible for scheduling and dispatching drivers using the Route Genie App to support the School of Origin Transportation Program. The role requires exceptional customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to last-minute changes. The scheduler will work with providers to arrange emergency transportation for students and cultivate strong relationships with partners to minimize stress from schedule changes. The position represents ABH® professionally and adheres to company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 2+ years of experience in customer service.
  • Experience with data entry and tracking software systems is a must.
  • Exceptional communication skills and a great customer service attitude.
  • Strong data entry and computer skills including MS Office (excel, word, outlook).
  • Proficiency with dispatch software.
  • Knowledge of grammar and punctuation.
  • Ability to learn and master transportation scheduling software system (Route Genie).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to quickly respond to changes in schedules.
  • Ability to meet critical deadlines each day with confidence and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and dispatch drivers to meet all required transports via the integrated Route Genie App.
  • Receive and process incoming urgent and non-urgent calls while operating telephone and computer systems.
  • Adjust to last-minute changes and work with providers to schedule emergency pick-up or drop-off for new or established students.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with provider partners.
  • Receive last-minute schedule changes from DCF, Provider, or Parent and make applicable routing changes in Route Genie software.
  • Work with the Transportation Manager to address service issues.
  • Maintain logs of calls received and transportation cancellations or no-shows.
  • Enter data into spreadsheets and databases.
  • Process routing and dispatching activities and assign drivers to routes.
  • Contact drivers to alert them of time-sensitive schedule changes.
  • Answer questions and concerns regarding transportation issues.
  • Learn and master the Route Genie scheduling software system.
  • Data entry of new student paperwork for transport.
  • Log reports on all activities occurring during the shift.
  • Process same-day and ongoing change requests as well as student build-outs.
  • Maintain student schedules utilizing school calendars and student referrals.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
