About The Position

This position serves as a Transportation Routing Coordinator for the South Zone, operating on a 12-month term of employment. The role reports to the Director of Transportation and involves coordinating daily routing, driver assignments, and ensuring the efficient operation of the transportation department. Key responsibilities include managing substitute drivers, maintaining bus cleanliness and repair requests, and assisting with route evaluations for safety and efficiency. The coordinator will also be involved in accident investigations, conflict resolution regarding bus routing, and managing the bus camera system. Additionally, this role assists with driver payroll, activity bus assignments, and the preparation of annual DPI Pupil Transportation Reports.

Requirements

  • Possession of a CDL with school bus passenger endorsement
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer skills required in word processing, database management, and spreadsheets
  • Knowledge of school guidelines and school board policies
  • Working knowledge of Synovia GPS Tracking System
  • Working knowledge of Synovia TAA (Time and Attendance System)
  • Ability to assign Activity Buses and Vehicles in Travel Tracker
  • Knowledge of TIMS (Transportation Information Mapping System) and/or equivalent system/software
  • Working knowledge of Fortress Bus Camera System

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of school bus driver experience is preferred.
  • Supervisor or leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates daily routing and driver assignments
  • Create schedules for substitute drivers
  • Substitute driver on a bus as needed
  • Ensures buses are kept clean and repair requests are submitted
  • Provides new drive route ordination
  • Monitors Synovia GPS tracking and TAA system for accuracy
  • Assist with routing evaluation to ensure safe and efficient bus stops
  • Assists TIMS Coordinator regarding route changes and updating information
  • Reports routing and student assignment issues to the TIMS Coordinator
  • Coordinates additional related program routes with TIMS Coordinator and Drivers
  • Investigate accidents; prepares initial paperwork; obtain pictures; assist at scene
  • Assist administrators with resolving conflicts regarding bus routing and student issues
  • Reviews, maintains bus camera system and provides video as needed; reviews video at school administrators’ request
  • Overseeing and managing clock ins/outs and payroll for drivers and monitors
  • Assist with coordinating activity bus and vehicle assignments
  • Responsible for assisting with preparation of annual DPI Pupil Transportation Reports
  • Assist other Route Coordinators as needed
  • Assist as needed in the Transportation Department Office
  • All other Transportation related duties as assigned by the Director
