Requirements

  • One year as a Transportation Planning Specialist Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • One year of experience as a Transportation Planning Specialist 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Three years of professional transportation planning, transportation administration, or transportation engineering experience, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, planning, computer science, or geography
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Meet the PA residency requirement
  • Be able to perform essential job functions

Responsibilities

  • Ensure planning and programming activities meet all federal and state requirements
  • Guide and review the work of planning staff across multiple Metropolitan and Rural Planning Organization regions
  • Work with regional, state, and federal partners to reach decisions on key transportation programs
  • Support the development and review Transportation Improvement Program and their 12-Year Program, Unified Planning Work Programs, and any related planning documents
  • Provide direction on policy, funding, and project implementation issues for district and regional partners
  • Maintain accurate status reports on major transportation projects and present updates to decision makers
