Transportation Planning Internship

About The Position

This internship focuses on assisting the Transportation Planning Team with a bus stop assessment to evaluate the condition of shelters and amenities. The intern will also lead a project based on their interests in transportation planning, working with the Bike/Pedestrian Coordinator. Responsibilities include developing study methodologies, conducting site visits, attending meetings, performing community outreach, and working on professional skills. This is an unpaid internship with the City of Arvada - Transportation Planning Team. Opportunities include attending a Denver Regional Council of Governments mobility working group meeting, meeting with local bike advocate groups, assisting with Bike to Work Day (June internship only), job shadowing in the Infrastructure Department (engineering, roadway design, community planning), receiving a resume consultation, and observing mobility counts at Arvada’s G Line Stations.

Requirements

Applicants must be currently participating in the Jeffco Public Schools Internship program to be considered.

Responsibilities

Assist the Transportation Planning Team in a bus stop assessment to understand the conditions of the shelters and other amenities.
Create and lead a project based on the intern's interests in transportation planning.
Develop study methodologies.
Conduct site visits.
Attend meetings.
Perform community outreach.
Work on resume and professional skills.
Attend a Denver Regional Council of Governments mobility working group meeting.
Meet with and join a ride with local bike advocate groups.
Assist the Bike Ped Coordinator with Bike to Work Day (June internship only).
Job shadow other members of the Infrastructure Department (engineering, roadway design, community planning etc.).
Participate in a college resume consultation specific to the planning/transportation planning field.
Visit and observe Arvada’s G Line Stations for mobility counts.
