About The Position

Kimley-Horn is looking for Planning graduates to join our Nashville, TN office focusing on Transportation in 2027! This is not a remote position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Public Policy, Urban Design, or a related field.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience in transportation planning.
  • Interest in multimodal transportation, transit, land use, and community planning.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to synthesize technical information into clear, client-ready deliverables.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Esri ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience with Power BI and other data analysis tools.
  • Experience with urban and graphic design applications (SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Experience supporting public involvement, stakeholder engagement, or community outreach efforts.
  • Familiarity with travel demand modeling, transportation simulation, or transportation forecasting.
  • Familiarity with urban design principles, placemaking, and complete streets concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Support comprehensive transportation planning, corridor studies, long-range transportation plans, and land use plans.
  • Develop clear, data-driven planning materials through multimodal transportation analysis, GIS mapping, visual presentations, and technical writing to support project development.
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings, public workshops, community outreach events, and agency coordination meetings.
  • Prepare technical memoranda, planning reports, presentations, and planning recommendations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams on transportation, transit, land development, and urban design projects.
