About The Position

Psomas is seeking a Transportation Planner for their Seattle office to support a variety of multimodal planning efforts. These efforts include corridor studies, safety improvements, traffic modeling, and pedestrian and bicycle projects specifically for local communities in the Puget Sound region. This role involves transportation analysis, technical writing, and collaboration across disciplines to create practical, community-focused transportation solutions that enhance mobility and safety. The position offers the opportunity to directly contribute to transportation projects that influence how people navigate and experience their communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • 0-5 years of transportation planning, traffic engineering, transportation analysis, or related experience.
  • Strong technical writing, report development, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple project commitments and deadlines.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office product suite, including Word and Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • Experience with Synchro traffic operations modeling software.
  • Experience developing maps, graphics, and presentation materials that communicate technical concepts to clients and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the analysis and development of pedestrian, bicycle, vehicle, transit, and safety improvements to support the design team.
  • Analyze transportation operations using modeling and simulation software to support corridor studies and identify recommended improvements.
  • Evaluate safety issues and concerns in communities, including analysis of crash data, safety needs and trends, research into best practices, and identification of targeted safety improvements.
  • Work collaboratively with professionals from Psomas' civil engineering, urban design, environmental, landscape architecture, and construction management disciplines.
  • Work closely with transportation planners, engineers, urban designers, clients, and project stakeholders in a collaborative team environment.
  • Support all aspects of the transportation planning group, including marketing, scope development, field work and data collection, transportation modeling and analysis, community engagement, and the development of reports and presentations.
