The Transportation Planner I/II – Asset Management & Multimodal Planning is a professional position that supports the City's transportation planning and transportation asset management programs. The position performs work related to multimodal transportation planning, development review, public outreach and stakeholder engagement, transportation data analysis, GIS, transportation asset inventories, and planning project delivery. The position supports implementation of the City's Transportation Master Plan, Active Transportation Plan, Vision Zero initiatives, development review process, and regional transportation planning efforts. The position also helps ensure transportation infrastructure assets are accurately documented, maintained, and analyzed to support planning, operational, maintenance, and capital investment decisions. The position works under the direction of the Senior Transportation Planning Manager and collaborates with Asset Management, Engineering, Community Development, Culture, Parks and Recreation, other City departments, consultants, developers, community stakeholders, and regional agency partners. Transportation Planner I is the entry/developmental level and performs transportation planning, GIS, and asset management assignments of routine to moderate complexity with guidance. The position develops technical knowledge, professional judgment, and familiarity with City plans, standards, policies, and processes. Transportation Planner II is the journey level and independently performs more complex transportation planning, GIS, development review, and asset management assignments. The position exercises greater professional judgment, develops recommendations, coordinates projects and stakeholders, and may provide technical guidance to less-experienced staff.
