TRANSPORTATION OPERATOR (DSA III)
About The Position
Eastern State Hospital (ESH), located in Williamsburg, Virginia, is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services. ESH is hiring a Transportation Operator to provide escort, assistance, and transportation for patient-related on- and off-campus activities using handi-vans, stretcher vans, and general-use vehicles. The role also provides direct-care support to mentally ill patients on an assigned unit, assists laundry services, and provides mailroom coverage when additional support is needed. During downtime or between scheduled runs, the operator may assist with monitoring patients on secure hallways and monitor patient/family visits during normal work hours. This position is considered essential personnel and may be required to work in emergencies, pandemics, or when facility needs arise. ESH positions may require different shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and/or overtime when requested in an emergency.
Requirements
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record for the past three years in all states in which licensed.
- Experience operating general-use vehicles, including sedans, passenger vans, and trucks up to 13 tons GVWR.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working in an inpatient program with individuals with psychiatric and developmental disabilities.
- QMHP certification.
Responsibilities
