About The Position

The Agency of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Operations Technician I. This position is located in District 7's Lyndonville garage and is responsible for various tasks related to highway maintenance, such as repairing guardrails, cutting trees/brush, patching roads, picking litter, ditching, and more. In the winter months, this position will also assist with plowing and salting, and overtime may be required. These entry-level positions offer excellent benefits, opportunities for career development, and a CDL training program. A minimum of a Class B is required prior to the completion of an employee's 6-month probationary period. This position is eligible for a sign-on and retention bonus of up to $2000! Newly hired CDL and non-CDL holders who are hired into permanent maintenance worker or mechanic job on or after July 13, 2025 are eligible. Although the full salary range for this position is provided, new hires are typically made at the salary range minimum.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • An incumbent must live within reasonable proximity of assigned workstation.
  • Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required for the successful completion of original probation.
  • An incumbent must complete all VTTC required coursework within six (6) months or be enrolled.
  • Participation in a random drug and alcohol-testing program is required prior to operation of vehicles or operating equipment.
