About The Position

This position performs maintenance, inspection, repairs, and diagnostics on a vehicle fleet, including electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems, gas and diesel engines, and mobile hydraulic systems used on aerial devices, digger derricks, medium/heavy duty trucks, light duty vehicles, forklifts, and off-road equipment. The role supports all Entergy equipment and vehicles. Primary responsibilities include the inspection, maintenance, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems, gas and diesel engines, and mobile hydraulic systems used on aerial devices. The position will support medium and heavy-duty bucket trucks, digger derricks, occasional off-road equipment like dozers, skidders, and marsh buggies, and some light-duty vehicle work. The role requires communication and cooperation with peers, supervision, and internal customers to maintain a safe and productive environment. The employee will operate a field service vehicle and travel to various job sites. Responsibilities include preparing records of all maintenance activities, willingness to work extended hours, potential for alternate reporting locations and storm travel outside Entergy's territory, and working in a shop environment, maintaining an orderly and environmentally safe workspace. The role also involves directing the work of assistants, instructing and training other employees, and performing non-critical welding. Compliance with all DOT, DOE, and OSHA regulations is mandatory.

Requirements

3-5 years hands-on experience maintaining hydraulic, mechanical, electrical systems on mobile hydraulic and medium/heavy duty trucks, or combination of work and Vocational Technical training (Mechanic I-II).
5-7 years hands-on experience maintaining hydraulic, mechanical, electrical systems on mobile hydraulic and medium/heavy duty trucks, or combination of work and Vocational Technical training (Mechanic Sr).
Must have worked at least 1 year in automotive industry or have automotive or related certificate or degree from accredited institution.
Must be self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision.
Must be a team player willing to work with other mechanics and employees.
Ability to use physical strength to perform required tasks in all weather conditions.
Basic knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software.
Experience with engine diagnostic software.
Ability to interpret electrical and hydraulic schematic drawings.
Self-motivated and dependable team player.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
Ability to work irregular hours and out of town assignments as required.
Ability to take and understand directives and complete tasks with limited supervision.
Ability to plan and lay out all work in a safe and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

Perform maintenance, inspection, repairs, and diagnostics on vehicle fleet assets, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic systems, gas and diesel engines, and mobile hydraulic systems.
Support all Entergy equipment and vehicles.
Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic systems, gas and diesel engines, and mobile hydraulic systems utilized on aerial devices.
Support medium and heavy-duty bucket trucks, digger derricks, occasional off-road equipment (dozers, skidders, marsh buggies), and some light-duty vehicles.
Communicate and cooperate professionally with peers, supervision, and internal customers.
Operate a field service vehicle and travel to various job sites to perform work.

Provide routine maintenance (filter changes, greasing, cleaning) and inspection of all Entergy leased, owned, and rented equipment after proper training.
Perform Federal Department of Transportation inspections.
Perform other miscellaneous utility work in and around the garage (e.g., housekeeping, sweeping).
Dismantle vehicles and equipment in preparation for repairs.
Complete work orders with proper coding and information.
Assist with any task under the supervision of a qualified automotive mechanic, supervisor, or manufacturer/vendor representative.
Operate forklift, overhead crane, or other equipment for loading/unloading during fleet operations.
Accurately order parts and ensure used or miss-ordered parts are returned appropriately.
Operate vehicles/equipment sufficiently to verify proper diagnosis and repair.
Complete Hazard Assessment prior to performing any work and as the job changes.
Attend and contribute to monthly and weekly safety calls.
Complete all safety mandated training/computer-based training.
Follow all Entergy Safety rules and work injury and accident-free.
Complete time reporting daily.
Perform all work tasks and customer interface with professionalism.
Maintain a clean work area free from clutter and tripping hazards.
Complete and document monthly shop and vehicle audits.
Communicate with Fleet Supervisor, OC, and local Line Supervisors.
Comply with all Environmental, Safety, State and Federal regulations.
Supply personal hand tools used in work up to 1” and ½” drive.
Obtain and maintain a DOT med card within 90 days after employment.
Obtain and maintain a Class A CDL license within 365 days of 21st birthday or hire date (dependent on training and scheduling availability).
Obtain air brake inspector certification within 90 days after employment (dependent on training and scheduling availability).
Know Company’s safety rules related to the Automotive Hydraulic Mechanic and be willing and able to administer all approved methods of resuscitation, and render practical first aid within 90 days after employment.
Know the location of and be willing to operate all life-saving devices (e.g., AED, firefighting equipment) and know what equipment to use on appropriate fires within 30 days after employment.
Complete all industry certifications and manufacturer training that applies to the role and responsibility of the position as identified by Entergy.
