About The Position

At Ferraro Foods, our Transportation team keeps our operations moving and ensures customers receive their deliveries safely and on time. The Transportation Manager plays a key role in overseeing daily transportation operations, including dispatch, routing, driver performance, and the training and development of new driver hires. We’re looking for a hands-on Transportation Manager with strong foodservice delivery experience who can lead drivers, solve problems quickly, and keep daily operations running safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Active Class A or Class B CDL required
  • 5+ years of foodservice delivery experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage a busy workload
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • High school diploma or equivalent work-related experience preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Transportation supervisory or management experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of RoadNet preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily transportation operations, including routing, dispatching, and driver coordination
  • Manage the morning dispatch process for Class A and Class B Drivers
  • Troubleshoot routing, delivery, and staffing issues and follow up with drivers throughout the day
  • Handle driver and Driver Helper callouts and coordinate alternate solutions to keep deliveries moving
  • Communicate with customers, Customer Service, Sales, drivers, and other internal teams regarding delivery times and service issues
  • Serve as a key point of communication between Transportation and Sales
  • Analyze routes on an ongoing basis and identify opportunities to improve efficiency
  • Review driver feedback and make appropriate adjustments to route order and sequencing
  • Supervise and audit RoadNet maintenance and routing activity
  • Monitor truck utilization during the routing process, including weight and cube
  • Coach and counsel drivers and helpers to improve performance and ensure adherence to company policies
  • Address attendance, performance, conduct, and other policy concerns through appropriate corrective action
  • Support the training and development of newly hired drivers
  • Ensure drivers comply with DOT regulations, state and federal laws, OSHA requirements, and company policies
  • Report driver accidents, incidents, and injuries to Safety and Human Resources
  • Identify and recommend improvements to departmental policies and practices
