About The Position

SA Recycling is seeking a skilled high-performing Transportation Maintenance Supervisor for our Yard in East Point, GA. You will lead a fast-paced maintenance team and supervise the daily diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance of our fleet and heavy equipment. This role combines hands-on mechanical expertise with strong administrative and leadership capabilities. This position will work outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of automotive and heavy equipment mechanics, circuits, and hydraulics.
  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, PLC, and large motor subsystems.
  • Advanced skill in using specialized diagnostic tools to pinpoint complex vehicle issues.
  • Mastery of a wide variety of hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret manufacturer service manuals and schematics.
  • Meticulous approach to quality control, safety inspections, and documentation.
  • Capability to lift heavy components, work in confined spaces, and work outdoors in all types of weather.
  • Standard Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) credentials, federal/state inspector certifications, and Fleet Tire Service for OSHA Compliance.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years of maintenance experience in the scrap metal or related industry.
  • 3 years of progressively responsible lead experience in fast-paced, diverse operations.
  • Must pass a required background screening, physical examination, and drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in a related field preferred.
  • Bilingual skills (English & Spanish) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and perform routine inspections on vehicles and equipment, checking fluid levels, tire pressure, lights, brakes, and batteries.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues using diagnostic tools to isolate problems in engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Assist the team in executing engine tune-ups, oil changes, brake replacements, suspension adjustments, and electrical repairs.
  • Source, order, and install replacement components including tires, filters, belts, and hoses.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs, tracking parts, labor hours, and repair details in our in-house computer tracking system.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel and Word to prepare performance reports and analyze maintenance data.
  • Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations, manufacturer specifications, and environmental standards.
  • Motivate, organize, and maintain a highly efficient, safety-first maintenance team.
