About The Position

Our Transportation Supervisor will be responsible for directly supervising and coordinating activities of transportation and vehicle operators. This role involves managing the day-to-day transportation of goods and supplies, providing operational support, gathering data for reports, and leading a team. The supervisor will also be responsible for creating their own monthly schedule, ensuring high-priority tasks are completed, and maintaining a strong safety culture in line with the organization's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) policies. This position requires developing a thorough understanding of company policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory codes to ensure compliance. Additional duties may be assigned as required.

Requirements

• Must be available to start work at 4:00 a.m.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills including but not limited to performance management (employee evaluations, discipline, corrective action, coaching) and conducting interviews.
• Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
• Ability to develop proficiency with company computer system is essential.
• Ability to motivate and develop direct reports.
• Strong planning, organization, and customer relations’ skills are required.
• Experience and thorough understanding of warehouse, delivery, traffic operations and systems within a distribution setting, as well as government regulations (e.g., DOT, OSHA, HazMat, etc.).
• Experience of supervising and directing people and other resources to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes.
• Experienced practitioner able to work unsupervised.

Nice To Haves

• 5-10 years of related experience of successful management or supervisory experience within a large or national organization strongly preferred.
• Associate/Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Responsibilities

• Manage on a day-to-day basis the transportation of goods and supplies using existing procedures; review and recommend improvements to procedures to ensure on-time delivery of goods and supplies.
• Provide operational support by performing a range of route activities using existing systems and protocols.
• Gather and summarize data and prepare documents and reports using a variety of computer applications such as Microsoft Office.
• Supervise and lead a team performing routine work.
• Design own monthly schedule and, if necessary, assign work to others in order to speed up office workflow and ensure high-priority tasks get done.
• Maintain a culture of safety that follows the organization's Health, Safety and Environmental (HS&E) policies to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to oneself and others in the workplace. Instruct the team in safe working methods and escalate serious issues as appropriate.
• Develop knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct to ensure own work adheres to those standards. Obtain authorization from a supervisor or manager for any exceptions from mandatory procedure.
• Perform additional duties as required.
