About The Position

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) has an opening for a Transportation Intern (UTK) to support ongoing projects in the Brentwood, TN office. This position will prepare reports, site plans, permit documents, construction schedules, and studies as assigned. The intern will apply technical skills to routine projects with minimal supervision, direct technicians for the production of engineering documents, and execute cross-discipline checks and coordination. They will review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance, recognize and report risk management issues, and assist in learning client needs. The role involves understanding the profession's ethical obligations, assisting with reviewing scope of work issues with consultants and contractors, and working across disciplines and office locations to utilize firm experiential knowledge. The intern will also assist others with technical mentoring, recognize the role as a team player, and represent the firm in all aspects of projects and assignments. They will be able to respond to common inquiries from clients or regulatory agencies, prepare reports and technical memorandums with oversight, and effectively present information in oral and written formats. The position may involve directing or coordinating the work of technicians, continually participating in Individual Development planning, providing input to improving project delivery processes, contributing to the Client Services team, actively participating in local professional societies, and participating in community service activities.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited university.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD software.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Civil3D is preferred.
  • A/E or EPC experience a plus.
  • Foundations of Engineering Certificate (EIT) a plus.

Responsibilities
