About The Position

This is an in-person position. The Transportation Foreman will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all personnel within the yard, including subcontractors, and verifying that work is performed in accordance with CORE principles. The role requires ensuring adherence to all Hanwha Philly Shipyard safety procedures, rules, and regulations. Key responsibilities include providing leadership, instruction, and control of production teams, motivating supervisors, and maintaining quality standards, costs, and schedule completion. The Foreman will provide daily feedback on work progress to the Department Manager, ensure optimal work organization, and review and issue planned target hours to Supervisors. Establishing and maintaining shift turnover meetings with Supervisors is also a critical function. The position requires knowledge of budgets and forecast man-hours, verifying maximum employee utilization through effective working hours, identifying performance issues, and implementing corrective actions. The role also involves implementing and maintaining automated welding processes, reviewing work scope and key targets for execution, maintaining a controllable man-hour backlog, confirming supervisor man-hour commitments and completion dates, and ensuring assignments are completed as planned. Work package review and acceptance are also part of the duties, along with performing other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
  • 5 years’ professional experience in shipyards with shipbuilding production or ship repair
  • 5 years’ professional experience in business with manufacturing of heavy steel structures
  • 5 years’ professional experience in production of pressure vessels, boilers & other quality products
  • Experience with automated production lines
  • Experience in leading Supervisors and production teams
  • Understand blueprints, 3-D drawings and technical documents
  • Knowledge and understanding of safety rules and procedures
  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing

Responsibilities
