About The Position

This is an entry-level, full-time position for a Transportation Engineer. The role involves project assignments including on-site representation of the client, preparation of project documentation, cost estimating, scheduling, plan review, research of records, quality control/quality assurance inspection, and materials testing and oversight. The engineer may also review project records, schedules, and as-built construction to evaluate change orders and requests for extension of time. The position requires the ability to independently apply techniques and analyze problems and methods, ensuring the quality and timeliness of deliverables. In addition to core duties, the role includes receiving training, participating in company activities, and performing administrative duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Architecture, or related field
  • Knowledge of engineering principles of construction management and project controls
  • Knowledge of one of the following services: critical path method scheduling, cost estimating, project budgeting, delay analysis, constructibility and design review, inspections, quantity take-offs
  • Must possess OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or obtain within 3 months of hire
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, CADD, graphics
  • Writing capabilities
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to obtain and maintain industry certifications specific to duties assigned
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and technical reports
  • Ability to maintain records and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to maintain favorable public relations
  • Able to stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions
  • Ability to safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain
  • Ability to supervise assistants in technical/administrative roles
  • Must also maintain a valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Pass a fingerprint-based criminal background check
  • Pass a DMV driving record check
  • Pass reference verification
  • Pass work history check
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Some experience in transportation construction preferred
  • Experience may be in the following sectors: federal, state, municipal, ports or marina projects
  • FE/EIT preferred
