About The Position

NV5's Northeast Infrastructure group is seeking a Civil/Transportation Engineer with 4-8 years of experience in designing linear transportation or site projects. This position is ideal for a candidate experienced in transportation design for urban streets, roadways, multi-use trails, and multimodal facilities. Experience with PennDOT and/or NJDOT roadway or highway design is preferred. While the role primarily focuses on multimodal transportation projects, the candidate should also be willing to assist with site design, green stormwater infrastructure, parks, and other community development projects for public and private clients in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The role also involves assisting with transportation planning tasks such as active transportation plans, corridor master plans, and trail routing/feasibility studies. The team environment is collaborative and multi-disciplinary, with a focus on improving communities through planning and design. Requirements

  • P.E. License
  • BS or MS in Civil Engineering
  • At least 4 years of civil or transportation design experience
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation/lnRoads/Open Roads Software
  • Strong interest in active transportation, complete streets, and Vision Zero
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm for design and working within a team
  • Ability to balance multiple projects at once

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with roadway or highway design involving PennDOT and/or NJDOT is also preferred.
  • Interest and willingness to assist our team on an as-needed basis with projects involving site design, green stormwater infrastructure, parks, and other community development improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Technical design duties including performing multimodal design documents, calculations, report writing, specification development, and cost estimating.
  • Development of horizontal and vertical corridor design (streets, trails, etc.), including centerline alignments, vertical profiles, cross sections, and site grading.
  • Coordination with internal project team members across several NV5 offices, including structural, geotechnical, traffic, and water resources engineers, as well as planners and landscape architects.
  • Coordination with subconsultants, public agencies, clients, participation in project meetings, and assisting with community engagement efforts as needed.
  • Participation in professional societies like ASCE, WTS, and ITE will be encouraged.
  • Experience in signing and pavement marking plans, erosion and sedimentation control, grading, and traffic control.
  • Assisting with transportation planning, including active transportation plans, corridor master plans and trail routing and feasibility studies.
