This position is responsible for the efficient management and administration of highway construction contracts, including determining the acceptability of materials furnished and work performed. The role involves construction administration to ensure compliance with State and Federal requirements, and the preparation of contract supplemental agreements with approval authority up to $200,000. The position also has the authority to suspend contract work. The Resident Engineer will participate in and represent ADOT in various meetings, conferences, and seminars, and ensures ADOT, consultants, and contract employees comply with all applicable safety and environmental standards. This role supervises field office staff, including hiring, scheduling, training, work assignments, performance appraisals, counseling, promotions, and other personnel actions, including disciplinary actions. The Resident Engineer also manages the field office budget, vehicle fleet, IT equipment, other fixed assets, and expendables. This position is eligible for a $4,000 hiring incentive.
