About The Position

DLZ Corporation is seeking a Transportation Engineer – Traffic Operations to serve as a technical specialist supporting Michigan traffic engineering. This role is best suited for a PE with strong experience in traffic analysis, modeling, and traffic control design, who wants to be a go-to technical resource within the region. DLZ is a nationally recognized, award-winning multidisciplinary firm delivering engineering and architectural design services, construction management, surveying, right-of-way acquisition, and materials testing across the Midwest.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
5–10 years of experience in traffic/transportation engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Michigan or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Demonstrated experience with traffic analysis and modeling software.
Experience with OpenRoads Designer and/or Civil 3D.
Ability to safely access and traverse construction sites in Michigan.

Nice To Haves

Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification.
Experience with MDOT and/or Local Agency Federal Aid projects.
GIS experience.

Responsibilities

Perform and lead traffic engineering, traffic analysis, and safety studies for Michigan roadway projects.
Develop signal design, signing and pavement marking plans, maintenance of traffic (MOT), and Transportation Management Plans (TMPs).
Utilize traffic software such as Synchro/SimTraffic, SIDRA, VISSIM, and/or RODEL.
Coordinate with roadway designers and project managers to integrate traffic solutions into MDOT projects.
Review drawings and deliverables to ensure conformance with Michigan standards and QC procedures.
Prepare specifications, cost estimates, schedules, and client progress reports.
Participate in field reviews and support construction phase traffic engineering needs.
Assist with business development and proposal support for Michigan transportation clients.
