About The Position

This position is for a Transportation Engineer 3 within District 6 Traffic. The role involves preparing and reviewing safety studies for high-crash locations and system-wide improvements, reviewing Traffic Impact Studies for private site developments, assisting in the coordination of access management along state routes, and conducting and reviewing studies for speed zones and signal warrants. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States, as sponsorship for an employment visa is not available. All answers to supplemental questions must be supported by the work experience/education provided on the Civil Service application. New hires will serve a one-year probationary period. This position is overtime exempt based on FLSA Standards and has been designated as a Career Professional position.

Requirements

  • Licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors
  • 12 months of experience as group or project leader providing work direction & training to engineering technicians &/or lower-level engineers OR 12 months of experience in conducting engineering related research (i.e., conducting engineering related research only applies to staff specialist positions)
  • If assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver’s license
  • OR licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors
  • 12 months of experience as Transportation Engineer 2, 85642
  • If assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver’s license
  • OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration
  • Ability to communicate with public, locals, and developers

  • Familiar with traffic tools (such as HCS, AASHTOWare/ECAT)
  • Familiar with ODOT and Local requirements
