About The Position

This position will manage construction projects in the southern portion of District 7, specifically in Miami, Clark, Greene, and/or Montgomery Counties. The role involves administering transportation projects from the preconstruction meeting through finalization, including running meetings, writing change orders, approving materials, and processing estimates for payment. The engineer will work with contractors to resolve field issues, interpret construction plans, ensure contractor compliance with plans and specifications, and monitor maintenance of traffic operations to ensure work zone safety. Additionally, the position requires supervising lower-level engineers, managers, and highway technicians (inspectors) working on assigned projects.

Requirements

  • Licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors
  • 12 mos. exp. as group or project leader providing work direction & training to engineering technicians &/or lower-level engineers or 12 mos. exp. in conducting engineering related research (i.e., conducting engineering related research only applies to staff specialist positions)
  • If assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver’s license.
  • Licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors
  • 12 mos. exp. as Transportation Engineer 2, 85642
  • If assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver’s license.
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration.

  • Monitor maintenance of traffic operations on projects to ensure that our work zones are safe for the motoring public.
  • Supervise lower-level engineers, managers and highway technicians (inspectors) that are working on your assigned projects.
