About The Position

This position involves performing highway lighting reviews for ODOT projects, evaluating railroad crossing preemption treatments, serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Highway Lighting, Signal Design, and Preemption, participating in railroad crossing field reviews, assisting with updates to Highway Lighting, Signal Design, and Preemption Standards, and assisting districts with electrical and lighting issues in the field. Requirements

  • Valid certificate as Engineer-In-Training issued or accepted as equivalent by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as Transportation Engineer 1, 85641.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; valid certificate as Engineer-In-Training issued or accepted as equivalent by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 2 yrs. engineering related experience.
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration.

  • Assist with ongoing updates to Highway Lighting, Signal Design, and Preemption Standards.
  • Assist districts with electrical and lighting issues in the field.
