About The Position

The Transportation Engineer 1 (TCE) - Construction position is part of ODOT’s Transportation Civil Engineering Program. This program includes a 12-month training plan with scheduled rotations through the department’s core engineering disciplines: Planning & Engineering, Construction, and Highway Maintenance. The role provides a thorough introduction to these disciplines, working alongside ODOT professional engineers to gain hands-on transportation training and experience essential for a career with ODOT.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Accepted for Basic Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (EIT exam) by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors.
  • Civil Engineering skills.

Responsibilities

  • Complete ODOT’s Transportation Civil Engineering Program.
  • Undergo a 12-month training plan with scheduled rotations through core engineering disciplines (Planning & Engineering, Construction, Highway Maintenance).
  • Receive a thorough introduction to the three core civil engineering disciplines.
  • Work alongside ODOT professional engineers.
  • Gain hands-on transportation training and experience.
