About The Position

Neighborhood Healthcare PACE is a managed medical plan focused on providing comprehensive care to seniors, aiming to keep them healthy and at home within their communities. The Transportation Dispatcher plays a crucial role in this mission by coordinating transportation services for participants to ensure they receive integrated healthcare. This position is vital for maintaining participant safety through regular vehicle maintenance scheduling and ensuring optimal, frustration-free transportation services by collaborating with various teams. This is a full-time, onsite position with a schedule of Monday-Friday, 6:45 am - 3:15 pm, including a 30-minute lunch break.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Two years of public/private transportation experience preferred.
  • One year of dispatcher experience preferred; two years of experience within the healthcare and/or related industries preferred.
  • One year of experience working with frail and/or elderly populations required.
  • Valid CA driver’s license and proof of auto insurance required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire and must be maintained as a condition of employment. These courses must follow AHA guidelines- may be completed through approved online providers such as ProMed or other equivalent programs that meet recognized BLS standards.
  • In addition, current CPR and First Aid certification are required for all PACE employees in accordance with CMS and DHCS requirements. First Aid training will be provided at onboarding and must be renewed annually.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledgeable about and experience with transportation dispatcher duties.
  • Ability to participate in DMV pull notice and required testing.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent planning and organizational ability.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and ensures safe transportation services to participants and potential enrollees.
  • Develops, coordinates, and maintains transportation routes and schedule to ensure timely arrivals for participants appointments.
  • Prepares monthly transportation reports, as needed.
  • Participates in the initial, semi-annual, unscheduled, and annual assessments as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).
  • Attends morning updates and report changes in participants’ baseline status to appropriate staff, as needed.
  • Attends staff, IDT, in-services, projects, and committee meetings; updates transportation team with information, as needed.
  • Oversees the scheduling of transportation services to ensure maximum driver efficiency and high participant satisfaction.
  • Communicates with drivers regarding route changes and schedule updates throughout the day to ensure efficiency.
  • Provides timely documentation in the participants medical records for appointments canceled or no shows; communicates missed appointments or cancelations to the clinic team.
  • Assists with scheduling vehicle maintenance appointments for lift vans, ADA accessible minibuses, and ambulatory vehicles.
  • Supports all departments with transportation needs, including departments with prospective participants to tour the facility and meet the enrollment team.
  • Remains alert to pertinent input from other team members, participants, and caregivers; updates the IDT promptly of any changes in participants’ condition or psychological status.
  • Conducts a comprehensive pre-inspection on assigned vehicles, including lift vans, ADA accessible minibuses, and ambulatory vehicles.
  • Ensures wheelchairs or any other assistive devices are properly stowed.
  • Assists participants getting in and out of vehicles, including participants requiring additional help with wheelchairs and other assistive devices.
  • Reports incidents to management according to trainings, policies, and procedures.
  • Completes all required documentation in a timely and accurate manner, such as progress notes, incident reports, pre-trip inspections.
  • Supports transportation team by driving service routes, as needed.
