About The Position

This position acts as a transportation coordinator to help Intermountain Healthcare achieve its mission through the timely and efficient delivery of items. The coordinator functions in at least one of five areas as assigned: Dispatch, Training, Vehicle Maintenance, Administrative and Logistics. This is a PRN position with 24+ hours a week, covering Monday-Friday shifts from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. The role involves coordinating driver activities, participating in training, overseeing vehicle maintenance, supporting administrative functions, and managing daily employee activities for scheduled routes. Additionally, the coordinator may act as a backup to drivers, coordinators, and managers to ensure daily commitments are met. The position also requires safely operating a motor vehicle for deliveries, prioritizing customer needs, communicating effectively, managing time efficiently, supporting department goals, and adapting to dynamic business needs. A computer and related applications are used for inputting, storing, and retrieving information.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with no restrictions.
  • A DOT Medical Card.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow assigned schedule.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computerized tracking system.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow department procedures and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to comply with Intermountain Healthcare's Motor Vehicle Driver Policy.
  • Valid CDL Medical Card.
  • Be 21 or older as required by the DOT to operate a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Pass a driver's road test as required by DOT to operate a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Demonstrated ability to use basic office, dispatch and email programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and assignments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deal with stressful situations.
  • Six months experience as a transportation driver with Intermountain Healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a dispatcher to coordinate driver activities to fulfill customer needs by receiving incoming calls and assigning drivers.
  • Coordinate and participate in training with employees, teaching and reinforcing department procedures, and providing feedback for performance improvement.
  • Coordinate the maintenance and repair of vehicles, ensuring they are safe and available for drivers.
  • Coordinate and support billing, accounts payable, customer service, payroll, building scheduling, information systems, technology, and compliance.
  • Coordinate day-to-day employee activities for regularly scheduled routes by developing employee work schedules, auditing route performance, and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Act as a backup to drivers, coordinators, and managers to ensure daily commitments to customers are fulfilled.
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle in various conditions to complete deliveries of equipment, packages, specimens, and supplies.
  • Stay aware of conditions affecting safety and protect personnel from work-related accidents and injuries.
  • Make customer needs a primary focus, understand their needs and expectations, gain their trust, and exceed expectations.
  • Clearly convey and receive information and ideas, engage listeners, and keep others informed.
  • Manage time effectively, accomplish assigned tasks, organize work, set priorities, and determine correct use of resources.
  • Support department goals and objectives, act proactively, and work cooperatively in a diverse team environment.
  • Adjust appropriately to dynamic business needs and conditions with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Use a computer and related applications to accurately input, store, and retrieve information relating to customers, employees, and vehicles.
