About The Position

Foth is currently seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector to support SCDOT transportation infrastructure projects in the Myrtle Beach/Florence area. This role will include field inspection, construction documentation, materials testing, and coordination with project teams to help ensure projects are completed in alignment with plans, contract requirements, and quality standards. This is a strong opportunity for an inspector who enjoys hands-on field work, technical problem-solving, and contributing to meaningful transportation improvements across eastern South Carolina.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 3 years of transportation construction inspection experience
• Experience inspecting roadway, bridge, asphalt, concrete, drainage, utility, pedestrian facility, or earthwork construction activities
• Ability to work in field environments and support project needs in the Florence/Myrtle Beach, SC area
• Valid driver’s license
• Strong math, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree in engineering technology or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
• SCDOT inspection experience
• Current DOT or SCDOT certifications
• South Carolina certifications such as Concrete Technician, Asphalt Roadway Technician, Earthwork & Base Technician, Foundations Certification, or Nuclear Gauge Safety Certification

Responsibilities

• Observe and document daily construction activities for transportation infrastructure projects
• Inspect roadway, bridge, drainage, utility, pedestrian facility, asphalt paving, resurfacing, and safety improvement work
• Verify construction work complies with project plans, specifications, contract requirements, safety requirements, and quality standards
• Sample and test construction materials, as required
• Measure quantities and maintain accurate project records
• Review contractor submittals and report non-compliance issues
• Complete daily inspection reports and project documentation
• Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to support successful project delivery
