About The Position

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is a dynamic, 100% employee-owned consulting firm with over 2,800 professionals providing a full range of multidisciplinary engineering, architecture, information technology, and related services. JMT is seeking Transportation Construction Inspection professionals to join their Central PA Team. The primary clients are the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and other Local Government agencies throughout the Central PA Region. The successful candidate will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes. This position is not eligible for employer-based sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification.

Requirements

• Strong computer proficiency.
• Active driver's license and reliable motor vehicle.
• Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.
• High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience).
• 1-4 years of Roadway Construction Inspection Experience.
• Previous PennDOT and or PA Turnpike Inspection Experience.

Nice To Haves

• Client Requested certifications, including: NICET Level 1 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction.
• NECEPT-Bituminous and Concrete Field Technician.
• ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician.
• CDS NeXtGen and/or ECMS Wave 5.
• Associate's or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.
• Perform routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials.
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades, and/or pavement to ensure compliance with plans and codes.
• Gather and maintain record documents.
• Make field notes and computations.
