Requirements

  • One year as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work
  • Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics
  • One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent
  • Meet the PA residency requirement

Responsibilities

  • Check project records and materials reports for accuracy and compliance with Department policies
  • Assist in maintaining construction project documentation using ECMS, PPCC, and mobile applications
  • Review calculations and quantities to confirm that submitted costs and payments are correct
  • Observe construction activities and traffic control setups to ensure they follow plans and specifications
  • Assist with sampling and reviewing materials and collect required certifications for project use
