About The Position

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking qualified and experienced Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisors for highway, bridge, and other infrastructure projects within PennDOT's District 5-0 region. The successful candidate will supervise standard inspection procedures of construction activities on behalf of clients, primarily PennDOT, ensuring structural quality, general safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes.

Requirements

  • Qualified and experienced Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisors
  • Experience with highway, bridge, and other infrastructure projects
  • Ability to supervise standard inspection procedures
  • Knowledge of structural quality, general safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes
  • Ability to review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods
  • Ability to coordinate and supervise project inspection activities
  • Ability to oversee, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff
  • Ability to measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement
  • Ability to make field notes and computations
  • Ability to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues
  • Ability to witness routine sampling and tests on concrete, soils and other materials
  • Ability to gather and maintain project records (using PennDOT ECMS and other systems)
  • Ability to interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations
  • Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and standards
  • Oversee, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all project phases
  • Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes
  • Makes field notes and computations
  • Work on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues
  • Witness routine sampling and tests on concrete, soils and other materials
  • Gathers and maintains project records (using PennDOT ECMS and other systems)
  • Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
