About The Position

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking qualified and experienced Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisors for highway, bridge, and other infrastructure projects within PennDOT's District 5-0 region. The successful candidate will supervise standard inspection procedures of construction activities on behalf of clients, primarily PennDOT, ensuring structural quality, general safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes.

Requirements

Qualified and experienced Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisors
Experience with highway, bridge, and other infrastructure projects
Ability to supervise standard inspection procedures
Knowledge of structural quality, general safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes
Ability to review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods
Ability to coordinate and supervise project inspection activities
Ability to oversee, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff
Ability to measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement
Ability to make field notes and computations
Ability to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues
Ability to witness routine sampling and tests on concrete, soils and other materials
Ability to gather and maintain project records (using PennDOT ECMS and other systems)
Ability to interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries

Responsibilities

Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations
Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and standards
Oversee, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all project phases
Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes
Makes field notes and computations
Work on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues
Witness routine sampling and tests on concrete, soils and other materials
Gathers and maintains project records (using PennDOT ECMS and other systems)
Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries
Perform other related duties as assigned
