Requirements

  • One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Must meet the qualifications for a bridge inspection team leader as defined by the current National Bridge Inspection Standards
  • Possession of a valid non- commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed inspections of bridges and structural components to assess conditions and identify concerns
  • Maintain accurate reports, photographs, sketches, and inspection forms for all assigned structures
  • Direct inspection staff, review performance, provide training, and support professional growth
  • Manage inspection equipment, coordinate maintenance, and ensure proper tools are available
  • Promote safe work practices, address hazards, and communicate safety expectations during all tasks
  • Work with counties, railroads, and project staff to plan inspections and resolve operational issues
