About The Position

The Atlanta, Georgia office of Lewis Brisbois, a full-service AmLaw 100 firm, is seeking an attorney to join its Transportation Practice. The practice defends organizations across the trucking and transportation industry, including freight carriers, transportation brokers, truck insurers, public entities, school bus operators, long- and short-haul truckers, and waste management groups involved in intrastate and interstate transportation. Its work addresses issues such as negligent hiring and retention, hours of service, Engine Control Module (ECM) data, messaging and positioning data, DOT compliance, and accident reconstruction, with significant litigation and trial experience. The attorney will handle transportation insurance defense matters involving heavy trucking/tractor trailers and cargo and freight carriers. The position calls for a self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, and bring strong writing and analytical skills.

Requirements

Admission to practice law in Georgia.
Two to fifteen years of insurance defense experience.
Experience handling matters involving heavy trucking/tractor trailers and cargo and freight carriers.
Strong writing and analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Draft and respond to discovery and initial pleadings.
Draft and argue motions.
Take and defend depositions.
Handle insurance defense matters involving heavy trucking/tractor trailers and cargo and freight carriers.
