About The Position

This position is a Transportation Coordinator at the facility level and acts as the primary contact for Veterans regarding their transportation needs. The incumbent works with the VTS Supervisory Mobility Manager for transportation workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, quality improvement implementation, process modification, and evaluation of the ongoing operational flow of the Veteran Transportation Services program. The coordination of the transportation function is multi-faceted and diverse, with three major areas of responsibility: Scheduling, Data Collection, & Tracking Support; Consult Management responsibilities; and Program Support responsibilities. The role requires knowledge of clinical services and related software and programs as they relate to clinical computing and office automation.

  • Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
  • Examples of specialized experience include: performing transportation support duties such as coordinating connections/scheduling, documenting travel information; collecting, compiling, and tracking data on a daily basis; Performs a basic analysis of data and generates a variety of reports; entering data into automated tracking data bases; and planning and directing a program that provides support services.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the VTS Supervisory Mobility Manager for transportation workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, and quality improvement implementation, modification of processes, evaluation and ongoing operational flow of the Veteran Transportation Services program.
  • Performs work involving consult management, appointment scheduling and admissions scheduling.
  • Daily responsibilities include collecting, compiling, and tracking data and statistical information in support of Veteran Transportation Service (VTS).
  • Performs a basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports.
  • Reviews documents, reports and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate.
  • Coordinates service practices that decrease waits and delays for patients in all specialty areas.
  • Enters pertinent information into an automated tracking system.
  • Plans for, organizes, administers, and directs how the work will be accomplished for the VTS program.
  • Provides advice to operating managers and supervisors on how provided services assist in accomplishing their missions and programs.
  • Plans and provides support services in the following types of program areas: electronic records management; driver scheduling setup & management; space utilization services.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
