About The Position

Merakey is seeking a Driver to join their team in Redding, CA. The Transportation Driver is responsible for ensuring scheduled transportation is implemented appropriately and timely with resident safety and security as the primary priority. Drivers will be responsible for keeping vehicles and equipment maintained, ensuring the vehicle has necessary supplies, and timely completion of shift forms. The pay rate is $17.50 per hour.

Requirements

  • Be able to obtain fingerprint clearance as an employment requirement.
  • Must be 21 years of age and have good driving record
  • Pass annual physical and T.B. test.
  • Maintain current CPR and First Aid for duration of employment.
  • Pass periodic drug screening test.
  • Provide current 10 year DMV printout.
  • Knowledge of safe driving practices and procedures; follows all vehicle and road laws when driving Company vehicle.
  • Possess current valid CA Driver’s License and have reliable source of transportation.
  • Displays mature behavior and attitude in speech and action; demonstrates consistently pleasant demeanor, tone of voice, supports the philosophy and approach to resident care and passenger safety.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in difficult situations.
  • Must maintain professional appearance and attitude
  • Attend required in-services, maintain clean driving record.
  • Write clearly and communicate well orally.

Responsibilities

  • Drives a Company vehicle to designated locations, in accordance with time schedules, to transport clients who are mentally or physically challenged, in wheelchairs, or otherwise require special assistance in getting into or out of Company vehicle.
  • Responsible for viewing and following all of the tie down and safety protocols outlined by the Sure-Lok “Doing It Right” safety video.
  • Is flexible for unscheduled transportation needs in an emergency situation. Follow established procedures for emergencies.
  • Responsible for maintaining transportation equipment: Inspecting lifts before/after each shift ensuring that the lifts stay clean and free from debris. Inspect tie down straps before each shift. Inform supervisor or designee when tie downs deteriorate and need replacement. Take vehicle to approved vendor for tie down replacement.
  • Maintain and submit the weekly Transportation Log for vehicles.
  • Responsible for maintaining Company vehicles including: Washing all vehicles every other week in the summer, monthly during the winter. Taking the vehicle(s) to approved vendors for regularly scheduled maintenance or repairs.
  • Responsible for maintaining open communication with Program Directors at the houses and staff at day care programs.
  • Unauthorized individuals are not to be transported in vehicles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
