About The Position

The Transportation Account Manager I manages day-to-day customer interactions for assigned transportation accounts or account segments, facilitates and escalates complex conversations, and ensures operational follow-through that protects both customer satisfaction and company performance. This role serves as a trusted extension of the managed transportation team, owning execution, issue resolution, and customer management.

Requirements

  • Strong customer-facing communication skills with the ability to manage difficult or sensitive conversations.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to operate independently.
  • Understanding of transportation, logistics operations, and customer account dynamics.
  • Ability to balance customer needs with business priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable coordinating work across teams and holding others accountable to deliverables.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and transportation management systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain, or related field required. 1 year of relevant work experience may be substituted for each year of education required.
  • 2+ years of logistics experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for assigned customers or customer segments.
  • Facilitate customer conversations related to service performance, capacity challenges, exceptions, and operational changes.
  • Negotiate customer-specific solutions and adjustments.
  • Represent the company professionally in customer meetings, calls, and on-site visits.
  • Identify issues that require leadership involvement and escalate appropriately with clear context and recommendations.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional team members to manage tasks, ensure execution, and close loops on assigned work.
  • Monitor daily operational activity for assigned accounts and take appropriate action to resolve issues.
  • Partner closely with Transportation Account Managers to support account strategy, customer satisfaction, and performance outcomes.
  • Participate in customer meetings and site visits as needed to support relationships and operational needs.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, communication, and follow-through on customer commitments.
