About The Position

HUB International is seeking a Transportation Account Manager to join their team. This role focuses on servicing and maintaining existing accounts within the Transportation department, with opportunities to upsell clients on additional lines of insurance. The Account Manager will manage a book of insurance business with a high degree of autonomy, providing excellent service to clients, carrier representatives, underwriters, business partners, and colleagues to ensure high account retention rates. The role involves supporting Producers/Sales Executives, managing account rounding, and developing new business. Key responsibilities include overseeing transaction preparation and processing, understanding client insurance objectives, analyzing insurance plans, staying updated on industry changes, acting as a liaison between clients and carriers for complex issues, negotiating with underwriters, troubleshooting claims and billing, and contributing to departmental production goals. The position also requires managing client meetings, documenting interactions in the EPIC system, preparing reports, and potentially mentoring other team members. Travel may be required on company business.

Requirements

  • Current applicable Property & Casualty Insurance License
  • A high school diploma required; some college preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Ability and willingness to utilize EPIC and other software
  • Ability to understand policy forms and coverage descriptions
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Willingness to attend educational classes

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience

Responsibilities

  • Manage a book of insurance business, while acting with a high degree of independent discretion, autonomy, and decision-making
  • Provide professional, courteous service to our clients, carrier representatives, underwriters, business partners, and HUB colleagues, resulting in a rate of account retention that meets or exceeds expectations
  • Provide a high level of support to Producers/Sales Executives in obtaining, maintaining, and expanding business
  • Be responsible for account rounding and the development of new business as appropriate and in accordance with standard practices, policies, and procedures
  • Oversee the preparation and implementation of all transactions, paperwork, and internal processing for assigned accounts
  • Acquire understanding of clients’ insurance objectives and critically analyze and compare insurance plans to determine suitability.
  • Stay abreast of changes in the insurance industry and other external conditions that may impact their clients.
  • Make appropriate recommendations to clients in response to those changes independent of manager approval
  • Act as liaison between clients and insurance carriers to resolve escalated complex service issues that require policy interpretation and experience based judgment to resolve.
  • Negotiate with underwriters and carriers
  • Troubleshoot claims and billing issues
  • Be responsible for overall retention of accounts in assigned book of business
  • Develop new business from existing accounts and assigned leads and contribute to meeting departmental production goals
  • Identify and follow-up on cross-selling opportunities when appropriate
  • Manage, organize, and conduct client meetings when necessary
  • Appropriately document conversations with clients and carrier representatives and update EPIC agency management system.
  • Ensure the accuracy of data in those systems
  • Travel on company business as required
  • Prepare reports for management as required
  • Support, mentor, and train other team members as needed
  • Attend industry related continuing education training and courses
