The Transport Driver hauls product from the processing plant to branches, stores, and customer locations. At delivery sites, the driver unloads pallets using a pallet jack and places them in coolers. Some locations lack docks, requiring the driver to hand-unload cases onto a two-wheel cart and wheel them into the cooler. The driver may also use a hook to move stacks of milk between trailers and roll pallet carts weighing up to 800 pounds into customer coolers. At drop-trailer locations, the driver unhooks the loaded trailer, hooks up an empty trailer, and transports it back to the processing plant. The driver returns empty pallets, pallet carts, and milk cases to the plant and delivers and returns required paperwork and inter-company mail. The position is full-time, with a five-day work week, variable days off, and typically one to two overnights per week. Schedules vary, with typical start times between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. A flexible schedule is required, including availability for Saturdays, some holidays, and overtime.
