About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Round Rock is seeking an experienced Transport Registered Nurse (RN) to support our specialized NICU Transport program. This unique role combines bedside neonatal care with transport opportunities, providing critical support to newborns requiring advanced NICU services across the Baylor Scott & White Health system. As a Transport Registered Nurse, you will care for high-risk patients and their families in a mobile setting. You are vital in upholding care standards and assisting in neonate and child transport cases. You will follow Physician’s directions to stabilize patients before transferring them to specialized care. Your responsibilities include caring for patients in various units such as ICU for newborns and Emergency Department.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure.
  • Previous NICU experience required.
  • Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively in dynamic, high-acuity situations.
  • A minimum of an Associate's degree in Nursing
  • At least (2) two years of relevant professional experience.
  • Registered Nurse
  • (BLS) Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Transport experience preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and electronic medical records is preferred.
  • Experience in NICU or PICU is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Round Rock NICU team and attend high-risk deliveries.
  • Provide specialized neonatal care during ground and air transport missions.
  • Coordinate the safe transport of neonatal patients into the Baylor Scott & White NICU network.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary care teams to ensure the highest level of patient care.
  • Deliver compassionate, family-centered care in a fast-paced and highly specialized environment.
  • Providing vital care knowledge to help the team assess patients, stabilize conditions, implement interventions, and communicate effectively with physicians.
  • Taking part in trauma team operations, and becoming an energetic member of the Rapid Response Team whenever possible.
  • Contributing to the achievement of personal, departmental and hospital targets by providing innovative ideas, suggestions, and solutions.
  • Participating in ongoing education, team meetings, interdisciplinary meetings, case reviews, and training sessions at department and hospital levels.
  • Participation in the process of developing and verifying patient care standards that apply to those being transported.
