About The Position

The Transplant Patient Assistant cares for patients within their scope of education and training as a Medical Assistant. They collaborate with the team to coordinate patient care for the complex medical regimen involved in the care of hepatology and transplant patients. The role participates in the department's Performance Improvement program, answers patient calls, and triages concerns from patients and healthcare professionals. Other duties as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant (MA) program required.
• Minimum two years of health care clinic experience required.
• Knowledge of patient scheduling and clinic processes.
• Able to read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality.
• Able to use computer and software programs necessary to the position.
• Able to troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.
• Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others.
• Able to be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies.
• Able to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.
• Able to lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate.
• Able to accept direction.
• Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone.
• Able to think critically.

• Able to see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position.
• Able to discern temperature variances through touch.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
