About The Position

The Transplant Patient Assistant provides care to patients within their scope of education and training as a Medical Assistant. This role involves collaborating with the team to coordinate patient care, particularly for the complex medical regimen required by hepatology and transplant patients. The assistant also participates in the department's Performance Improvement program, answers patient calls, and triages concerns from patients and healthcare professionals. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant (MA) program required
  • Minimum two years of health care clinic experience required
  • Knowledge of patient scheduling and clinic processes
  • Able to read
  • Able to write legibly
  • Able to speak in English with professional quality
  • Able to use computer and software programs necessary to the position
  • Able to troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others
  • Able to be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies
  • Able to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure
  • Able to lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate
  • Able to accept direction
  • Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone
  • Able to think critically

  • Able to perform basic math functions

  • Able to see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position
  • Able to discern temperature variances through touch
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
