The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) seeks a board certified or board eligible physician to join our expanding Division. This position is located in Milwaukee, WI at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital (FMLH). Position Highlights: Full time faculty position within the MCW Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology and the Department of Medicine in conjunction with the Froedtert & MCW Transplant Service Line Fully accredited ACGME Gastroenterology & Hepatology Fellowship program with 13 fellows with intent to initiate a Transplant Hepatology Fellowship Program. Fellows allotted to Transplant/Hepatology consultative service. This is a large & vibrant training program with transplant hepatology/general hepatology call coverage provided by fellows under faculty supervision, and fellow endoscopy call coverage of hepatology/transplant hepatology patients supervised by the gastroenterology faculty Participate in the institution's academic, research, and educational missions Opportunity to build a practice in transplant hepatology & general hepatology at FMLH, and various other outreach locations Opportunity to lead outreach clinic efforts in collaboration with current transplant hepatologists to grow & expand patient access to hepatology services Interest in outreach clinic efforts in collaboration with the current 4 transplant hepatologists to help grow and expand hepatology access for patients Serve as a consultant on general and transplant hepatology patients Contribute to the clinical education of fellows, residents, medical students, and other trainees Participate in multidisciplinary care involving hepatologists, hepatology APPs, gastroenterologists, and other relevant specialties Deliver patient-centered care while fostering a culture of inquiry, quality, & safety Strong APP, nutritional, & pharmacy support Serve as a consultant for transplant hepatology & hepatology patients (rather than the primary attending) for hospitalized patients Participate in multidisciplinary rounds (mornings), outpatient clinic (afternoons), and 1-2 endoscopy/clinic sessions on non-call weeks Collaborate with the hepatologists, 7 hepatology APPs, gastroenterologists, and medical/surgical transplant faculty to expand our existing transplant hepatology program Full advanced endoscopy support including ERCP and EUS services, as well as comprehensive GI endoscopy support New state-of-the-art Digestive Disease Center (opened in early 2024), including the opportunity to perform liver biopsies Contribute to the clinical education of fellows, residents, medical students, and other trainees Division Highlights: The Transplant Hepatologists at MCW work extremely collaboratively with the surgical team from the Division of Transplant Surgery The transplant hepatology practice is a dynamic & rapidly growing program recognized for its collaborative, patient-centered approach and commitment to clinical excellence In partnership with Froedtert Hospital, the division plays a central role in Southeast Wisconsin’s leading liver transplant program, with steadily increasing transplant volumes and outstanding outcomes The multidisciplinary team includes experienced hepatologists, transplant surgeons, advanced practice providers, and dedicated support staff who work together to deliver comprehensive care across the continuum—from pre-transplant evaluation to long term post-transplant management The division benefits from strong institutional support, a new state-of-the-art Digestive Disease Center, and close collaboration with its GI colleagues, as well as support from not only surgery & critical care teams, but also from a myriad of other services. A dedicated transplant ICU facilitates rapid access for critically ill patients and provides comprehensive state-of-the-art care With access to a robust patient population, academic resources, and opportunities for teaching & leadership, the division offers an exceptional environment for faculty to make a meaningful and lasting impact.

Requirements

• Board certified or board eligible physician
• Completion of an Internal Medicine residency
• Completion of a Gastroenterology Fellowship
• Completion of Transplant Hepatology training
• Eligible for or completion of the CAQ (Certificate of Added Qualification) in Transplant Hepatology
• Eligible for full, unrestricted licensure in Wisconsin
