About The Position

SpecPro is seeking motivated professionals to support field operations for a Mojave Desert Tortoise (MDT) Monitoring Project at Ft. Irwin, CA. We are specifically seeking individuals proficient in radio tracking who have been approved to Attach/Remove transmitters on previous MDT projects. The position requires working independently in desert environments in potentially extreme weather conditions. Applicants should have a vehicle capable of traversing rugged, rocky, sandy roads.

Requirements

Proficient Radio Tracking experience
Previous USFWS Approval to Attach/Remove transmitters on MDT
Previous USFWS MDT Authorized Biologist approval
Bachelor's degree in biology, environmental science, or related field
Minimum 2 years of professional terrestrial biology experience
MDT project specific experience
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
Experience preparing biological monitoring reports and collecting scientific data
Experience conducting surveys and monitoring for wildlife species in Southern California
Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
Ability to hike long distances over varied terrain and weather conditions
Regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
Frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
Occasionally required to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
