About The Position

Kimley-Horn's Salt Lake City, Utah (UT) office is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 2+ years of experience to join their Power Delivery Team. This role involves the design of power delivery infrastructure systems, including transmission lines, distribution lines, and substations. The successful candidate will participate on project teams in an active production role, prepare project specifications, and perform conceptual and detailed calculations. Daily interaction and collaboration with cross-functional teams and clients are expected, along with the coordination and verification of as-built drawings. The position requires performing quality work to promote client retention and is responsible for the development of reports and design documents for various projects.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of design experience in transmissions, distributions, or communication line design
  • Holds Engineer in Training (EIT), Engineer Intern (EI) or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment effectively

Nice To Haves

  • Transmission Line Modeling Software Experience: PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE

Responsibilities

  • Design of Power Delivery Infrastructure systems, including transmission lines, distribution lines, and substations
  • Participate on project teams in an active production role

  • Preparation of project specifications
  • Preparation of conceptual and detailed calculations contributing to creation of construction documents and specifications
  • Daily interaction and collaboration on cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines
  • Coordination and verification of as-built drawings
  • Perform quality work that promotes client retention
  • Responsible for the development of reports and design documents for various projects
