About The Position

Supervises the field work normally performed by Company and contract crews in the construction, operation, and maintenance of transmission lines and associated equipment. Ensures that those performing construction and/or maintenance activities adhere to AEP policies, standards, and rules of the company and regulatory agencies. Develops construction and/or maintenance plans by establishing measurable goals and objectives based upon maintenance requirements. Provides training, guidance, and performance improvement projects/activities for employees in the organization. Promotes professionalism, teamwork, and adherence to standards. Organizes and conducts planning meetings covering scheduling, construction and/or maintenance of equipment with applicable company and contract personnel. Makes effective recommendations for employment, promotion, discipline, and discharge of personnel assigned. Directs personnel as assigned in the performance of their duties as stated in their job description. Procures materials, tools and equipment as required. Responsible for the proper and safe use of tools and equipment, the safety, welfare and training of personnel assigned. Understands and applies the provisions of applicable labor agreements or employee handbook supplements where applicable.

Requirements

  • High school education or GED.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in Transmission operations, construction or maintenance.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of line construction and maintenance activities that are gained through experiences such as Transmission Line Mechanic A, Transmission Construction Representative or Transmission Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Travel requirements are expected > 50 % of the time
  • Considerable travel (over 50%) may be required.
