About The Position

The Transmission Crane Operator is responsible for safely operating heavy cranes to transport, position, and install equipment and materials in support of transmission line construction and maintenance projects. This role requires proficiency in crane operation, adherence to safety protocols, and effective communication with team members to ensure project goals are met efficiently and safely.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of crane operation, load charts, rigging, and safety procedures.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions, lift and maneuver heavy materials, and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate various types of cranes (e.g., lattice boom, tower cranes) to lift, move, and position materials and equipment for transmission line projects.
• Conduct pre-operation inspections and maintenance checks on cranes to ensure equipment is in proper working condition. Report any issues or malfunctions to the maintenance team.
• Coordinate with ground crew to load and unload materials and equipment. Ensure proper rigging and securing of loads to prevent accidents and damage.
• Follow all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure that safety measures are in place for all operations.
• Maintain clear communication with project managers, signal persons, and ground crew to coordinate movements and ensure accurate placement of materials.
• Maintain accurate records of crane operations, including load charts, inspection reports, and daily logs.
• Be prepared to respond to emergencies, including equipment malfunctions or accidents, following established emergency procedures.
• Stay current with training on crane operation, safety practices, and industry regulations. Participate in ongoing training as required.
