The Transmission Calibration Engineer develops customer driving experience and optimizes fuel economy through transmission clutch control and/or drive strategy calibration. The role may include developing analysis and verification methodologies and tools, project management, simulation and analysis, delivering high-quality calibrations throughout new programs, and developing, calibrating, and validating new features. The engineer works with cross-functional teams and suppliers to meet program requirements on time, supports test trips to verify transmission operation across environmental conditions, and troubleshoots issues and develops solutions. The position uses in-vehicle test instrumentation, ETAS-INCA calibration tools, and mathematical analysis tools such as MATLAB. Initial work may focus on project and process management and tool development requiring organization and coding skills. Travel is required to Chelsea Proving Grounds in Chelsea, Michigan, and to high-altitude, hot, and cold test conditions. Transmission calibration engineers work on products late in their development, where their work can have a direct and measurable impact. Projects often run on timelines of days or weeks.
