About The Position

Seattle University is seeking a Temporary Translation Specialist (Spanish–English) to provide support for a faculty-led project involving the Spanish-language translation of the LatCrit Primer. This role is focused on the detailed review and verification of translated text to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, and overall quality. The position is temporary, running from May 18, 2026, through June 20, 2026, with a schedule to be determined based on project needs. Requirements

  • Fluency in English and Spanish, with strong written language skills in both languages.
  • Demonstrated experience with translation, editing, proofreading, or similar language-focused work.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working with scholarly materials.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience translating or reviewing academic, legal, or scholarly materials.
  • Familiarity with legal, scholarly, or social justice terminology.
  • Prior experience working with faculty or supporting research-related projects.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct line-by-line and word-by-word review of Spanish-language translation of the LatCrit Primer.
  • Compare translated content against the original English text to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Identify and correct translation errors, inconsistencies, or unclear language.
  • Collaborate with faculty on revisions and finalization of translated materials.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and attention to detail throughout the translation process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the project.
