Transitional Registered Nurse, RN (Full Time-Nights)- Labor & Delivery
About The Position
This role is for a Transitional Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor & Delivery, working full-time nights. The position is located at Texas Health Plano, a 366-bed, Magnet-designated hospital serving Plano, Frisco, and surrounding communities since 1991. Texas Health Plano offers a full range of specialties and is recognized for its advanced care, including being an Advanced Level II Trauma Facility and an accredited Chest Pain Center. The hospital has over 1,600 employees and more than 1,360 physicians. The Labor & Delivery unit features 17 LDR rooms, 4 OR suites, and handles approximately 350-400 deliveries per month, with a separate Antepartum/High Risk OB department.
Requirements
- Associate degree Nursing required or Nursing Diploma
- 1 Year Experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program (Required)
- RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire (Required upon hire)
- BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly (Required)
- IFM - Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (Required upon hire)

- NRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program 90 Days (Required)
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support 90 Days (Required)
- NRPA-Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program 90 Days (Required)
- CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days Req
Responsibilities
- Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
- Assesses the patient
- Plans the care of the patient
- Intervenes as appropriate
- Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
- Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
- Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
- Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
