About The Position

The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) is seeking a Transit Reporting and Procurement Manager for its Local Assistance Division. This role involves working with public transit agencies across the state to support transportation services for the elderly and disabled. Requirements

  • Two years post high school degree or equivalent coursework/training in public administration, business administration, communications, regional or community planning, social sciences, education, or human rights.
  • One year of experience in project management, public policy, marketing, and/or planning.
  • Additional years of experience in comparable fields of work listed may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Office, specifically Microsoft Excel.
  • Team Management.
  • Understanding of State and Federal Regulations related to grant-funded projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to write, review, and evaluate technical documents for compliance.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
  • Reliable attendance required.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in business administration, public administration, or project management, preferably within a government or public agency context, demonstrating a proven track record of successfully managing federally funded projects.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare equipment bid packages, maintain active contracts, and evaluate proposed projects for transit vehicles, equipment, and facility projects based on eligibility and funding availability, in consultation with the NDOT-approved Transit Asset Management Plan.
  • Oversee training sessions and workshops to educate local agencies and elected officials on grant process requirements.
  • Ensure necessary tools and aids are available for the grant application process and foster awards.
  • Assist in preparing applications, identifying needs, and answering questions.
  • Engage with new and existing subrecipients to coordinate grant program requirements.
  • Track and report on performance measures, project completion, reporting statistics, and compliance milestones.
  • Assist in offering guidance and assistance in preparing grant applications, reviewing, and evaluating them to ensure they meet federal and state guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
