About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Transit Rail Project Manager to serve in a project manager role on transit & rail transportation projects delivered via various delivery methods. This role involves performing a variety of technical development tasks related to management of projects. The Project Manager will lead and manage the project team through all phases of project planning, procurement, engineering, execution, and closeout, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and contract requirements. The role also focuses on managing the commercial interests of the client while driving on-time and on-budget delivery, and is accountable for the overall management and successful execution of consultant contracts to ensure performance and profitability. The position requires the development and maintenance of Project Management Plans, including Program Controls, Document Control, Design Management, Risk Management, Safety Management, Quality Control, and Environmental Compliance, as well as the development and implementation of a communication strategy to enhance discipline-related processes and mitigate risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • 15+ years of experience in rail/transit engineering, with a focus on design and construction of infrastructure/system assets
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the project management of transit /rail transportation projects
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license; currently (or with ability to be) registered in the State of New York
  • Demonstrated progressive experience in managing design for rail/transit projects
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and project goals
  • Knowledge of rail/transit standards and regulations, including APTA, AREMA, CPUC, AAR, FTA and FRA
  • Advanced SME-level proficiency with transit and rail engineering principles, practices, process, standard of care, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues
  • Proficient in engineering software, such as MicroStation, InRail, Open Rail, AutoCAD, Civil 3D
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to engage at an executive level

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with MTA (NY), NJ TRANSIT, etc.
  • Knowledgeable of MTA (NY) technical standards and processes and procedures
  • PMP Certification
  • Experience in delivering track, line structure, and/or system (traction power, train control, communication design/engineering programs
  • Experience in managing a design-builder on behalf of the rail/transit agency
  • Design/Build or other alternative delivery experience

  • Develop and implement a communication strategy to increase the effectiveness of discipline-related processes, systems, and practices, and mitigating discipline-related risks.
