Transit/Rail Engineering Intern - Summer 2027
About The Position
STV is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Transit/Rail Engineering Intern to join its team for Summer 2027. The internship offers undergraduate and graduate-level candidates an opportunity to work alongside an experienced team, learn, and contribute to meaningful projects. This is a hybrid position requiring at least three days per week in the office. Preference will be given to candidates who can participate for at least three months and work full-time. The position is not eligible for sponsorship. The intern will support planning, design, and construction projects involving rail and other infrastructure. Work includes assisting with rail alignments, drainage systems, grading, construction documents, technical reports, calculations, and design research, as well as periodically performing field inspections.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering at an ABET-accredited university or NCEES equivalent.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in the architecture, engineering, or construction management industry.
- Ability to participate in the internship for at least three months.
- Ability to work full-time.
Responsibilities
- Use MicroStation and AutoCAD to assist with designing rail alignments, drainage systems, grading, and other infrastructure.
- Participate in a variety of planning, design, and construction projects.
- Support the development of construction documents, including drawings and specifications.
- Assist in developing technical design reports, calculations, and memos.
- Periodically perform field inspections.
- Conduct research in support of developing design solutions.
